What is ScarWork®?

ScarWork® is a light, painless way to massage scars and adhesions that was created by Sharon Wheeler. This method supports healing and helps scar tissue reintegrate into the fascial web.

What to Expect During Your ScarWork® Session

ScarWork® uses light, gentle pressure to work with the superficial layers. For maximum benefit, it should feel comfortable and not painful. You will be asked about your comfort level throughout the session.

Comfortable, loose fitting clothing is recommended to allow optimal access to the scar. Although the scar will be exposed, the rest of you will be covered with clothing, towels, or sheets.

Gentle, hands-on techniques will be used around the scar and directly on the scar. You may notice sensations in different areas of your body. You may feel like taking a nap. You can choose to talk or have a quiet session.

The session typically lasts 1-2 hours . We recommend returning in a few weeks to a few months depending on the length of your session. Of course, some people are satisfied with only a single session.

We will end the session with a few minutes of neck and back work to help integrate the work that has been done.
